Area Manager

Area Managers are responsible for managing fire and rescue services across a large geographical area, or for leading a directorate within the service. They report to the Brigade Manager and ensure that:

  • The activities of the brigade meet the requirements of the Local Authority
  • Progress is made towards achieving the aims of the corporate plan and Integrated Risk Management Plans
  • Necessary changes are identified and managed
  • Resources are allocated to support activities and achieve objectives
  • Information is obtained and analysed as a basis for making critical decisions
  • Their personal performance, and the performance of their team improves
  • The right people are selected for key roles

During major incidents such as large fires, floods or serious road traffic collisions they will take charge or undertake specialist functional roles.
